Our Christian Identity

It is important how we identify ourselves, as Christians or otherwise. It starts in the family, in our own lives just as it did for the Israelites in the Old Testament, and for Christians in the New Testament. “Who is this family with whom we have now joined in fellowship together?" As I (Dick Mickley) looked at the beginning of the Israelites, I really didn’t expect the awesome, wonderful, powerful, fear-producing, disruptive, cataclysmic coming of God into the midst of his commitment to this people. In the beginning the earth, and all that it is, was formed because God spoke and life became, and then God spoke and a nation became. It was so powerful that even the earth trembled in the presence of God. Israel’s existence originates outside Israel’s historical horizon, beyond the reach of Moses or of any king. It is mandated from the awesome region of heaven.

Who We Are

Our Members of Session (Elders)

The Elders at First Presbyterian Church oversee and guide the entire life, mission, and ministry of the church as it seeks to glorify God and love our neighbors. Each elder has been identified as a person of Christian character and has accepted ordination into leadership in the church.

Practically, they provide for the worship, finances, building, education, mission, and outreach of the church, doing so by modeling faithfulness in all these areas. They are the servant-leaders of the church.
