Amplification and Elevation

John the Baptist’s life is one of amplification of Jesus’ voice and elevation of His ministry, so much so that he blesses his own disciples to leave and follow Jesus. In a world not unlike our own – that is, a world where having “followers” gives cultural status and esteem – John knows that his life is second to the life of Christ. This week of Advent, we’ll explore how we always give gifts in Love, including giving the gift of our whole life to our God in love.

Scripture References: John 1:19-42

From Series: "The Pointing Prophet"

View any piece of classic, Christian artwork and whenever you see John the Baptist, you’ll see him pointing away from himself and toward Jesus. In this, John is the proto-disciple of Jesus; the blueprint for our own lives. Our Advent worship this year will anticipate the coming Christ by learning to point our lives toward him… just like John. John the Baptist is, truly, the Pointing Prophet. Let us explore how the Advent gifts of Hope, Love, Joy, and Peace can all be pointed toward our Lord.

Who We Are

Our Members of Session (Elders)

The Elders at First Presbyterian Church oversee and guide the entire life, mission, and ministry of the church as it seeks to glorify God and love our neighbors. Each elder has been identified as a person of Christian character and has accepted ordination into leadership in the church.

Practically, they provide for the worship, finances, building, education, mission, and outreach of the church, doing so by modeling faithfulness in all these areas. They are the servant-leaders of the church.
