Confidence in the Flesh
Where does our confidence (literally “with faith”) come from? Our two readings today are like a tale of two cities – one built on our own vigor, prowess, and potency; the other built on the love of God in Jesus Christ. On this World Communion Sunday, we will recognize that many challenges facing the global church – challenges largely created by our own flesh – but how these challenges are met, confronted, and conquered in our Lord, in whose flesh we can have confidence.
