God's Community
"I really didn’t expect this awesome, wonderful, powerful, fear-producing, disruptive, cataclysmic coming of God into the midst of his commitment to this people. It is just as in the beginning of Genesis when the earth and all that it is--it was formed because God spoke and life became. Here theophany, as pictured and imagined, as so raw and powerful that we scarcely have access to it--and then only when hedged around with priests to stand in for us. This utter holiness of God is the pivotal point in God’s relationship with his creation."
Scripture References: Exodus 19:1-9a, Luke 7:36-50
