The Shepherds' Movie: Home Alone

Living on the edges of society, shepherds are quickly forgotten and rarely missed. For this reason, when they gather to watch a Christmas movie, they always start with Home Alone. This week, we'll explore the margins of society and the parts of ourselves we try to hide in the attic of our souls. Mostly, though, we'll recount how the Christ child is Good News for these places first and foremost.

Scripture References: Luke 2:8-21

From Series: "Advent at the Movies"

In my household – and likely in yours – one of the great joys of the Christmas season is Christmas movies. Cold temperatures outside are warded off by the warmth of fun films, close cuddles, and blankets. Many of these films carry more than just good family memories; they carry the very character of Advent. Over the four weeks of Lent, you are invited to watch four classic Christmas movies and then engage these stories through the lens of the story of Advent. For best results, watch the movies/shows in advance of each Sunday.
