Esther

The story of Esther’s life is one of the destructive nature of both carnal lusts and vengeance, God’s perpetual providence, minority mechanisms for survival, politics, liturgy, poetic justice, and the importance of fashion. By God, it is a good story! The Babylon of yore shares enough culture with our country today that the people of God should be encouraged by this story, for this story exists as an encouragement to the people of God, even when they find themselves in the worst circumstances.

Scripture References: Esther 4:1-17, Esther 7:1-10

From Series: "Sermon Madness"

When COVID-19 shut down two wonderful institutions in March – the church’s in-person worship and the NCAA March Madness tournament – we sought to ease the pain of these loses by having our own “Sermon Madness” tournament. The four weeks in September are all dedicated to the winners from each bracket – Election (theology), Esther (Bible), Christianity and Materialism (Ethics), and Christian Family (Hodge Podge bracket). These are the sermons you voted for day-after-day. It’s like Shakespeare’s “As You Like It.”
