Election

As we return to in-person worship today (for those who feel comfortable doing so; there will still be a wonderful worship video available for all), we will begin our “Sermon Madness” series. Election is one of the central theological themes of the Church – second only to salvation. The tagline for this sermon during “Sermon Madness” was “Why you come to church.” That was a pithy (cheeky?) way of saying what Romans says more directly: “We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.” This week we explore the what, how, and why of God’s electing you as His people.

Scripture References: Romans 8:28-34, Genesis 12:1-3

From Series: "Sermon Madness"

When COVID-19 shut down two wonderful institutions in March – the church’s in-person worship and the NCAA March Madness tournament – we sought to ease the pain of these loses by having our own “Sermon Madness” tournament. The four weeks in September are all dedicated to the winners from each bracket – Election (theology), Esther (Bible), Christianity and Materialism (Ethics), and Christian Family (Hodge Podge bracket). These are the sermons you voted for day-after-day. It’s like Shakespeare’s “As You Like It.”
