Doom, Gloom, and Glory

It’s easy to guess that the worst thing will happen. That’s the message Jeremiah brings to the false prophet Hananiah. To proclaim dread will almost always be proven correct. Paul extends this thought to the point of self-fulfilling prophesies, noting that if we give ourselves over to sin, then we will sin, but if we give ourselves over to righteousness, we will shine in glory. This isn’t a sermon saying we should only think positive for positive to happen, but rather that we should entrust – in mind, body, and soul – the peace of Christ over the problems of evil.
