Church Doors--and Other Holy Spaces

Buildings and the staff members who work in them are different and to be differently valued (ideally with people being more important than bricks), but they do share this one characteristics: Each are dedicated to the upbuilding of the Church and God’s Kingdom manifested on earth. As such, we do well to dedicate and commission these faithful resources to the work of God in the world. This Sunday, we’ll explore the holy purpose of the Property and Admin Teams and, additionally, participate in a dedication and commissioning service for both the building and the staff.

From Series: "Committees for Christ"

During the Session/Deacon training in June 2021, Pastor Jeff solicited sermon topics and themes from the Elders and Deacons. One of the themes recommended was to preach a sermon series on the Session Committees of our church in order to help the congregation see the ways that our Committees and Teams aren’t just part of an organizational flow chart, but are “Committees for Christ.” As Pastor Jeff returns from his sabbatical, we will focus on the mission and ministry that we are called to together and the shape this mission and ministry takes through our Session’s leadership of the church. Each week will feature a sermon and a “Minute for…” from the chairperson for each Committee. The hope with this series is that when you’re asked to join a Committee, what you hear is an offer to join in Christ’s ministry in the world since these are “Committees for Christ.”
