Money and More

Financial and material stewardship is the means by which God’s blessings come into our lives and – from there – are mediated into the lives of others. No aspect of our life belongs to us and us alone, thus stewardship is about the right and holy ways in which we share life with others. Sometimes this takes the form of leaving some excess for gleaning. Other times, it is a conscious choice to give. Whatever the case, though, stewardship is about losing one’s life so that it may be gained again, forever.

From Series: "Committees for Christ"

During the Session/Deacon training in June 2021, Pastor Jeff solicited sermon topics and themes from the Elders and Deacons. One of the themes recommended was to preach a sermon series on the Session Committees of our church in order to help the congregation see the ways that our Committees and Teams aren’t just part of an organizational flow chart, but are “Committees for Christ.” As Pastor Jeff returns from his sabbatical, we will focus on the mission and ministry that we are called to together and the shape this mission and ministry takes through our Session’s leadership of the church. Each week will feature a sermon and a “Minute for…” from the chairperson for each Committee. The hope with this series is that when you’re asked to join a Committee, what you hear is an offer to join in Christ’s ministry in the world since these are “Committees for Christ.”
