Where the Spirit Rests
As we anticipate ordaining and installing new elders and deacons in the church – more details on that coming soon – we are reminded that the church’s leaders are blessed with a power beyond the mere consensus vote of the congregation, but rather are given the Holy Spirit by which to lead and guide God’s people. Yet even those who are not ordained should prepare themselves for a power and authority that is foreign to them, just as happened with Eldad and Medad. What we learn is that the validity of all leadership comes through the power of the Spirit, whose presence we celebrate this Pentecost day.
