Mark 4:35-41

We know the Bible Story of Jesus rebuking the Winds and the Sea. His disciples thought they were surely going to drown. They were filled with anxiety and despair.

“Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”

Of course he cared. But He was still, He knew. He then rebuked the storm. And yes, the storm ceased.

Are we listening? How many times is your boat tossed and turned in your sea? The anxiety of being late for an appointment, that job interview, the diagnosis you didn’t want to hear.

Our bodies sit, but our minds race, and the idea of stillness seems almost impossible. We are inundated with work, social media, meetings, school programs, advertisements, and the list goes on.

And if that isn’t enough, we are concerned for the future of our children and grandchildren. It is difficult to Be Still, but as Christians, we know that God called our children and grandchildren to live in this exact moment of time. Their life, at this time, is not a coincidence. As we raise them to know the power of God, we must also help them to listen. Be Still! God is talking.

A great lesson for our children and even a greater lesson for us.

Peace my Friends. Be Still.
