Ezekiel 11:14-25
“Thus says the Lord GOD: Though I removed them far away among the nations, and though I scattered them among the countries, yet I have been a sanctuary to them for a little while in the countries where they have gone” (Ezekiel 11:16)

Another week of lectionary readings and another selection from the people of God’s Exodus/exile/diaspora narratives; this time from Ezekiel, who also writes during the time of Babylonian exile.

By now, the reflection for our times is obvious: Just as the people of God have been cut off from their “normal” in Ezekiel’s time, so too have we experienced much of the same during our time. So, rather than my write the same thing out again, I’m inviting everyone who read this to look back over the last year-plus of life and send me a story of how God’s promise to be “a sanctuary to them for a little while” has proven true in your life. This week, you get to write the devotion (and, maybe, later I’ll find a way to publish these – with permission – so that we all might share in our appreciation for God’s faithfulness together). Amen.
